Spam Spam Spam

Spam, Spam, Spam this is the term given for unsolicited email and got its name from the Monty Python Sketch

After you have been on the net for a while you will start getting spam and looking for ways to avoid it.  One site to visit is  stop-email-spam which has lots of good articles

The cPanel that comes with hosting accounts also has some good anti spam features

Box Trapper

Some hosts will disable this because of the security holes it has and the high server load it needs.  Box trapper requires people that are not on your white list to verify there email  to ensure that they are not a spammer. This function can be quite useful in preventing automatic mailings that you do not wish to receive from reaching your inbox.  It is very similar to SpamArrest.

  1. Login into your cPanel
  2. Click on Mail
  3. Click on Boxtrapper Spam Box orhowever the host describe it
  4. Click on manage next to the email address you wish to turn Box Trapper on
  5. Now click on configure defining how long you wish to keep the mail in the que for verification, the email that you wish to have the sender receive to verify the message is genuine etc.
